Mr A’s Story
When Mr A walked out of prison in August 2025, he carried more than just a bag of belongings—he carried the weight of nearly 20 years behind bars and the uncertainty of starting life all over again.
At over 50 years old, Mr A faced a daunting reality. During his incarceration, his family ties had gradually weakened. Although his siblings had written e-letters and visited him over the years, communication ceased in 2022. His father had already cut off all contact with him since the start of his incarceration in 2006. Upon release, there was no family home to return to and no loved ones waiting to receive him.
Without a place to stay, Mr A was at risk of homelessness and isolation at one of the most vulnerable moments of his life.
On the very day of his release, he was welcomed into our shelter, where he found more than just a roof over his head—he found stability, acceptance, and a community that believed in his potential.
Over the past few months, Mr A’s journey has been one of remarkable transformation. Through consistent support, guidance, and encouragement, he has been able to reconnect with his elderly father and restore a relationship that had been broken for nearly two decades. Today, he not only keeps in touch with his father but also provides him with a monthly allowance as an expression of filial care and responsibility.
His story is proof that when someone is given a safe place to stay and people who believe in them, transformation becomes possible.
